Screen Orientation
Using Your GoPro Around Water
In Single Lens mode you can easily switch between landscape and
portrait shots by rotating your camera. It can even capture photos and
videos right-side up when it’s mounted upside down.
Though MAX2 is not suitable for underwater use due to image
distortion, it is waterproof to 16ft (5m) with the door locked. You won’t
need an additional housing to capture surf footage or any other shots
on the water.
The orientation is locked in when you press the Shutter button
.
If your camera tilts during recording, like on a mountain bike run, your
footage will tilt with it. You’ll capture every twist and turn.
The touch screen was designed to work when wet, but you may need
to wipe it off if it has trouble sensing your commands. You can also use
the camera’s buttons to navigate the menus if the screen isn't working.
1. With the camera on, you can press the Mode button
to
switch modes.
You can lock the screen in landscape or portrait orientation. This
is especially useful when you’re using body and handheld mounts.
That’s when accidentally shooting in the wrong orientation is most
likely to happen.
2. Hold down the Mode button and press the Shutter button
.
A menu will appear on the front screen.
1. Swipe down on the rear screen to access the Dashboard.
3. Press the Mode button to scroll through the presets.
2. Turn your camera to the orientation you want.
4. Use the Shutter button to select a preset.
3. Tap
on the Dashboard.
The screen is now locked and will match the orientation of your camera.
Heads Up: The Dashboard and Media Gallery are not available when
navigating with the buttons.
PRO TIP: Use the Screen Lock feature (available on the Dashboard) to
prevent accidental screen taps and possible changes to your settings
caused by water droplets.
