Type ping <IP address> from the command line, then press Enter.
The network connectivity information is displayed, as shown in
Figure 45.

To verify that the Ethernet interface is up and running, run 'ifconfig' to
check the status of the Ethernet interface. In addition, you can use the
'netstat -i' command to check the statistics on the Ethernet interface.
Consult the manual pages for more information about the 'ifconfig' and
'netstat' commands.
